This is hairpin crochet which has been finished by double crocheting along the edge in a contrasting collar - then finished with a crab stitch edging to give a firmer edge. This collar has no fastenings, and is designed to slip over the dogs head - being made from leather and having an open design, it does stretch - and is better slightly stretched for a snug fit.
This collar, again, is worked in 1mm leather cord.
These collars are purely decorative and are best worn by a whippet or greyhound, with sort fir and an long neck, to show off the intricate workings of the hairpin design.
